Turbocharger Lag

Turbocharger Lag is the time required to change power output in response to a throttle change. Noticed as hesitation or slow throttle response when accelerating.

Turbocharger lag results from the time it takes the engine to create enough exhaust pressure to spin the exhaust turbine and pump compressed intake air into the engine. Lag is longest when the engine is in a low-rpm, low-load state.
