Listing Content Guidelines

DieselVille brings customers and their local businesses together. To best serve our end users (and your potential customers), we've come up with a list of guidelines for DieselVille accounts and listings.

The policies listed below play an important role in maintaining a positive experience for users and business owners on DieselVille. These policies also help us curb abuses that threaten our ability to provide this service. If you're a business owner, violations may result in the denial of access, removal of one or all of your listings, deletion of your account, and being prevented from adding future listings. These policies may change at any time.

Your DieselVille Account

Ownership:

Only business owners or authorized representatives may verify their business listings.

Account Email Address:

Use a shared business email account, if multiple users will be updating your business listing. It is recommended you use an email address that uses your business domain. For example, if your business website is www.example.com, a matching email address would be you@example.com

Your Business Listing

Business Name:

  • We recommend you use the same name as used on your Yellowpages listing and Google Map listing.
  • Marketing taglines, phone numbers, store codes, or URLs are not to be included.
  • Examples of acceptable titles with descriptors (in italics for demonstration purposes) are "Westside Diesel Repair" or "Joe’s Diesel Repair".
  • Business names that include a location MUST show that it is their legal or registered trade name. A whitepages or yellowpages directory listing is acceptable proof.
  • Examples that would not be accepted would be "#1 Seattle Diesel Service", "Joe’s Diesel Repair Best Service" or "Diesel Service Dallas".

Business Location:

  • Use a precise, accurate address to describe your business location.
  • Do not create a listing at a location where the business does not physically exist. Post Office (P.O.) boxes are not considered an accurate physical location.
  • Do not create more than one listing for each business location, either in a single account or multiple accounts. Doing so can have a negative effect on your search engine ranking.
  • Exceptions to the above are mail or online order only businesses such as parts distributors, wholesalers, or manufacturers. If adding these locations, you should include contact information for customers to get help.
  • If you need to specify a mail box or suite number within your physical location, please list your physical address in Address Line 1, and put your mail box or suite number in Address Line 2.
  • Use the precise address for the business in place of broad city names or cross-streets. Directions and other notes must be placed in the business description.
  • Do not include information in address lines that does not pertain to your business’s physical location (e.g. URLs, keywords).
  • Individual repair technicians may be listed individually as long as those individuals are public-facing within their parent organization. Common examples of such practitioners are doctors, dentists, lawyers, and real estate agents.
  • A business shall not have multiple listings to cover their specializations.
  • Departments within businesses may be listed separately IF these departments are publicly distinct and operated as separate entities or groups within their parent organization, and ideally will have separate phone numbers, customer entrances (addresses), and separate Yellowpages listings.
  • Businesses that operate in a service area should create one listing for the central office or location and designate service areas for their listing. DO NOT create separate listings in service areas. If you wish to display your complete business address while setting your service area(s), your business location should be staffed and able to receive customers during its stated hours. DieselVille will determine how best to display your business address based on your inputs as well as inputs from other sources.
  • Anytime the address for your business changes, you’ll have to verify again. You also won’t be able to update the business’s name until the verification process is complete.

Phone:

  • Provide a phone number that connects to your individual business location as directly as possible.
  • Use a phone number as used in your company citation NAP.
  • Use a local phone number instead of a call center number whenever possible.
  • Do not provide phone numbers that redirect or “refer” users to phone numbers other than those of the actual business.

Website:

  • Provide one website that represents your individual business location.
  • Do not provide URLs that redirect or “refer” users to landing pages other than those of the actual business.

Categories:

  • Select at least one business category from the list of available categories.
  • Business Category should depict what your business is (e.g. Repair Shop), not what it does (e.g. Brake repair) or products it sells (e.g. Diesel Tuners). This information can be added in your description.

Impersonation of Others

We do not allow impersonation of others or other behavior that is misleading or intended to be misleading.

Photos submitted to listings must depict the business/organization or business service/product represented on the listing. The image must be specific to the listing business. For example, a diesel repair shop should not show images of product logos (product manufacturers can have their own listings). You are, however, permitted to upload a logo of the specific business.

Private and Confidential Information

Do not publish other people's private and confidential information or any other information that is not publicly accessible. To protect your own privacy and your confidential information, be careful not to share any private or confidential information with others.

Do not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, and other proprietary rights. We will respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you have a copyright concern please contact us.

Reporting Abuse

If you believe that someone is violating these policies please contact us and let us know which policy is being violated. We will review your report and take action if appropriate. Not all reports result in removal. We understand that sometimes people can do harm without meaning to, so we consider these cases carefully.

Other Items of Note

Ineligible Business Models

  • Backyard or non-licenced businesses are not eligible for a listing on DieselVille.
  • Businesses that are under construction or that have not yet opened to the public.
  • You can not create listings for business which you do not own (e.g. sell your products).
  • You can not create a listing for an ongoing service, class, or meeting at a location that you do not own or have the authority to represent. Please coordinate with your host to have your information displayed on their listing page.

Illegal activities:

Fraudulent or illegal activities will not be tolerated on DieselVille and may result in removal of listing information.

Marketing, Promotions, or Contests

Any promotion, marketing, contests, or other giveaways should clearly display terms of the activity and provide clear guidelines and qualifications. All such promises, given or implied, should be adhered to.
